Rate my opening to my story please?
1-10 how good is my opening. I know a lot of it is not clear but I plan to answer questions later in the story.
I ran faster than I had ever run before. How could they suspect me? I looked back only to see the cops turn the corner getting closer every step. I don?t think I can out run them now. The envelope was in my inner coat pocket safe from pick pockets and unable to fall. I kept running but as I got slower it seems the cops got faster. I turned into the next alleyway. The police are hot on my trail. They are close enough to recognize me but I can?t lose hope yet.
I wish I knew where I was. If I did I might be able to make it to the helicopter that was waiting at the docks. I had never been to Boston before so I wouldn?t know where these docks are.
Just as I thought I had lost the cops I turned another corner; it was a dead end. I could hear the cops whispering on the other side of the wall. They may think it is over but they don?t know who they are following. When the first man appeared I knocked him instantly with a metal pipe. Too bad I wasted such a brilliant attack on my partner Eli.
So I am sure you want to know the whole story by now. I should probably start with the beginning.
?My name is Ava? I told the big man that was interviewing me.
?What are your skills?? he asked me in a bored tone. I could tell he thought I was weak. I am sure I could knock him unconscious with one blow and haul him over a ravine, but I kept that thought to myself.
?I can kill a man with my bare hands and easily use objects around me to get a job done. I can also revive unconscious people and I am able to stalk people through an entire town.? I said hoping for a challenge. I love to prove my strength, especially to people who doubt my capabilities.
?You are finished with the opened answers test. Now you must move on to the skills test.? He said with the same bored tone. He led me to a moving rug. It was like a conveyer belt. It stopped so that I could step on and then it sped off so fast that it knocked me over. The ride was short but amazing, I am sure that I just past through half of the undercover agency. The skills test was where I would have to fight and revive. This would be the best part off the interview. I am being interviewed for my new job as a secret agent specializing in tracking terrorists. In short I am being interviewed by the UFTH?s (Undercover Federal Terrorist Hunters).
The carpet stopped and I opened the door into a dark room. I was extremely alert in this new territory. I knew it was part of the skills test and something was going to jump out and attack me eventually.

You need to make sure you stay parallel. By that I mean, stay in one verb tense.
Ex: I ran as fast I could. I didn’t think they could catch up. (parallel)
Ex: I’m running as fast as I can. I don’t think they can catch up. (parallel)
Ex:I ran as fast as I could. I don’t think they can catch up. (WRONG)
Ex: I’m running as cast as I can. I didn’t think they could catch up. (WRONG)
Other than that, the story seems appealing.
One more suggestion I have is to change "cops" to "Police". Cops is known as "slang" for police.

Why do I keep gaining inches?
I’m 25, 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 145lbs. I run 3 miles 3 days a week, do sit ups, leg lifts every day. I restrict my diet to 1300 calories a day. I have been doing this for about 2 years. Given all this I stay about the same size, I have a 32.5 inch waist, 37 inch hips, 34 in. under the bust and 38 in. bust. I still have belly fat, I’m not happy about it but I can deal with it. UNTIL about a month ago I started lifting 5lb weights to tone my arms, I also do this every day, about 8 reps of 25 for 3 exercises. I measured myself today and I have gained about 2 or 3 inches in my midsection. What am I doing wrong?! Help!

Exercising helped me to tone up a pile after I coupled it along with using colon cleanse. I realize they say that pills do not work, however they definitely worked for me, and they have been shown on the Rachael Ray Show too. For me, it’s Bendis. The guy can do no wrong. I got into him early back when he was doing Powers, and I checked out his older crime comics, and then of course Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man. I know the criticisms - the back and forth dialogue, decompressed story telling - but really, his books are solid, and damn entertaining, and he’s only gotten better. I was skeptical about New Avengers for a long time, even dropped it for a bit. But when SI started up, I filled in all the gaps, because it’s just quality. And Dark Avengers? Jesus, that first issue had ungodly amounts of awesome in it, and the momentum has kept up.

Okay, I?ve asked this twice and I have new details to the question since we just went out last night. I?ll copy the details from both questions and then add in the new events.
The other night I was home alone and I just broke up with my boyfriend a few days before. I asked one of my best friends to come hang out with me, watch movies, look through stuff I brought back from Spain, etc.. At first he said, "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea!" then he changed his mind. Anyways, I’m a really sensitive person and the conversation spiraled down from there and I ended up admitting to him that I love him. And.. well.. I do.
So I block him right after I said it (we were on AIM) and then about twenty minutes later I unblocked him and he told me that I was just lonely because of my recent break-up (I actually just wanted to get out of that relationship to be with this guy).
Anyways, it’s been 2-3 days since then and I went to sleep last night and just woke up right now and he sent this about an hour after I left:
"And remember it is ok to tell someone you love them."
Alright, we just talked for a little bit then he said he had to go to work. 5 minutes later (I don’t know if he was still at home or at work) he sent me this:

Another thing just kinda out of the blue.
I thought he just didn’t want me to feel embarrassed that I confessed my love to him the other day.. now he’s just saying weird little things like this, called me babe and told me how pretty I am.
Okay, now yesterday we went to the movies to see Zack & Miri. Not the best date movie I might add, it?s hard to hold someone?s hand while you?re watching people have sex on a coffee bar counter. Anyways, he starts to hold my hand first, then our hands get sweaty and we stop, then start again.. all throughout the movie. Then on the drive back to my house he starts to hold my hand again. We get to my house and I invite him in because I have a late birthday present to give him. He opens it, it?s a basket I made with a necklace and some candy and a card. The card is actually a coupon to get a kiss from me (I made this like 2 weeks ago before all this went down between us) and I stepped out of the room while he opened it. I came back in and he stood up, handed me the card and then kissed me. It was so sweet and gentle.. unlike any other kiss I?ve gotten from someone else. I thought I was going to melt haha. Then he just holds me against him. He?s always shaking when I?m near him. When we held hands his body was shaking, when he hugged me his body was shaking and I could hear his heart racing. So he wants to hang around and rifle through my stuff so I let him, then we went to the computer room and I showed him my computer, when we got up to leave he just started hugging me again. Since it was getting dark and he isn?t familiar with this area he thought he?d better go, so we were standing by the door and he kept brushing his hands across my cheeks and then he gave me another kiss and left. He offered to stay and watch TV or go to eat but I thought he looked really.. uncomfortable.. so I let him go. I sent him a message right as he was in my front yard telling him that he was out there right then but I wanted him back in here with me. He responded when he got home that he wished he was still here, too.
Anyways, my question is.. do we have potential to date or something? I really do have strong feelings for him but I can?t tell how he feels about me. Help!
Btw, I don?t mind if you want to do the ?edit? thing because I realize this is a lot to read. So please, no thumbs down unless you just disagree with what someone says.
Anytime we get too close he always says something like "I can’t take disappointing you".
So, we don’t date or anything because of him being weird about stuff, saying things like that.
Thanks, Star. I’m 17 (about to be 18 in December) and he just turned 25.
We talk everyday. And he’s usually the one saying sweet things to me all the time and the falling into some sort of depression and saying the whole disappointment bit.
He just keeps confusing me by saying he cares for me and likes me and thinks all of these wonderful things of me then starts talking about needing to find himself, he feels disconnecting from the world and doesn’t want to disappoint me.
Sometimes I just want to tell him I’m used to pain, but that isn’t a good idea and he might take it is I’m expecting him to hurt me. The only way he’s hurting me is by being uncertain. I usually ask to go places because I want to see him, and he’s always excited to do it. I asked to see a movie and he didn’t even go "What movie? What day" He just said "What time?" as if he wanted to do it that exact day. His mood just changes so much, it’s confusing.
It sounds like he really does like you. The fact that he shakes, (trembles) and you hear his heartbeat, tells me he has strong feelings, possibly nervous and unsure of how to act. Not everyone is alike, but as a general rule, most females verbalize their feelings more openly and more often than guys. Some guys have difficulty expressing their feelings. It is my opinion that you just take it slow, one day at a time, and see how he acts. "Actions speak louder than words". Try not to push him to talk about his feelings. Just let him take the lead, as far as asking you out, deciding where to go, etc. Watch what he does, his actions should give you a hint of his feelings. When he said "I can’t take disappointing you", I think that means, one or two things. (I don’t know your ages, but it seems you both are probably teenagers, or early twenties) He either means, he doesn’t think he’s good enough for you, or.. he’s worried about your relationship taking the next step towards sex. If you’re sure you really, really love him, then have patience with him and take it slow. Say reassuring things to him, like: "you are a good person, you have a great personality, I feel comfortable with you, you make me smile, I enjoy being with you, sharing time with you", etc. Point out to him his best qualities that you notice everyday. You said you went to the movies, yesterday, so not much time as went by, I know it seems long to you. So saying, "we don’t date, because he’s being weird, is a little premature, (early) to judge things. I suggest you text or call him once a day, saying hello, how are you, etc., just keep the conversation light, like your keeping in touch, but not pressuring him. I believe you will see some kind of sign from him in the next day or two, that will confirm that he cares about you! (Please, remember, guys "show" their feelings, more than they verbalize them!) I’m going to add you to my watchlist, because I’m curious what he will do next! Feel free to message me. : )

i waited until my kids would have a 3 year gap between them, but many people have another baby straight away but i think that it would be to full on and not as relaxing to have them so close together..

I never experienced that but it’s very common, turns out your very fertile right after birth ESPECIALLY if you don’t breast feed (nursing a baby causes hormones to be relesased that are supposed to help prevent pregnancy)

My sister~when her baby girl was 3 months old she found out she was pregnant with her son and at the time she was thinking oh its ok "its so easy" b/c at that time all her baby girl was doing was eating and sleeping… and she stayed at my moms and she had 2 sisters living there along with mom and dad all more then excited to help out mid night feeding, changing diapers, bath time… my sister got spoiled REAL fast! then I moved back to niagrafalls my younger sister moved out and my mom and dad went back to work… she realized how hard it was to chase a little one around while being all big and pregnant… then when her son was about 1 she got pregnant again!!! and the dad was out of the pic. let me just say she is a VERRRYYY BUSY WOMAN!!!

oh yeah it happens, my oldest daughter was born oct 3 and the next year on sept 24 my son was born. they call that irish twins when they are less then a year apart.

Most women are smart enough to get back on birth control before returning to having sex so that doesn’t happen! We PLAN our families instead of just letting it happen!

I haven’t personally, as I made sure I didn’t get pregnant that fast. I was using birth control extremely faithfully at that point as I refused to have "Irish twins". I wanted to enjoy my firstborn for a little while before bringing another baby into the mix. Plus, I could not imagine being as tired as I was in the first trimester and having a young baby at the same time.
So my hubby and I are waiting until our daughter is about 18 months old before trying, so our next baby will be born when she is about 2 and a half. That is a good age difference for me.
My aunt had my cousins just over a year apart, and she said it was extremely difficult in the beginning. She had to buy two cribs, two infant car seats, double the diapers/bottles/wipes… everything. I cannot imagine having babies that close!

my girls are 10 months apart they are 24 and 25 but they are the same age for 2 months of the year they are very close to each other and also planned their 1st pregnancies together and their children are 3 months apart one is a girl the other is a boy and they love each other. I would have had it no other way they are the only 2 I have and the doctor told me that I was lucky to have them. I didn’t have to buy anything additional because they were both girls and everything was still in good shape for her and wasn’t placed in storage just to get thrown away if it was damaged or soiled. The only thing different was the first one used just regular glass bottles and the second wouldn’t take anything other than platex nursers.

Best JDM car air freshener that works? (i.e. Air Spencer, Smooth Cologne, etc.)?
I currently use Air Spencer Squash scent and it really does its job. However a lot of people have this and the smell has gotten kind of boring to me.
I was thinking of purchasing Smooth Cologne Aquamarine scent for underneath my seat. Has anyone tried this brand before? Is it strong? Does it last?
